Women's Mental Health, Perimenopause and Menopause
Supporting women through perimenopause and menopause has become one of the most rewarding areas of my clinical practice.
Many women tell me they no longer feel like themselves.
They describe feeling anxious for the first time in their lives, overwhelmed by everyday demands, struggling to concentrate, losing confidence or wondering where the person they once recognised has gone.
For many, these experiences coincide with the hormonal changes of perimenopause and menopause.
Hormonal fluctuations can have a profound impact on physical and emotional wellbeing, affecting mood, sleep, memory, concentration and resilience. When these biological changes occur alongside the pressures of careers, relationships, caring responsibilities, ageing parents, changing family roles and questions about identity, it is understandable that many women begin to feel overwhelmed.
I believe it is important to understand menopause through a broad lens. Together we consider how biological, psychological, relational and social factors interact to influence your wellbeing.
My aim is to help women better understand what is happening, regain confidence in themselves and reconnect with their strengths. Drawing on the latest psychological research alongside evidence-informed approaches to menopause, I work collaboratively with women to develop practical strategies, self-compassion and a renewed sense of agency during this significant life transition.
I draw from a diverse toolkit of therapeutic approaches, including EMBERS® Menopause-Informed CBT Model, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy) to provide tailored support that best suits your unique needs.
Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, burnout, loss of confidence, identity changes or simply feeling unlike yourself, therapy offers a space to understand these experiences and move forward with greater clarity and resilience.
Menopause marks a significant transition, but it can also become an opportunity for growth, self-understanding and positive change (although I appreciate that it does not feel like it right now).
